Hi,

I’d like to introduce you to the concept and the vibe of this project. Prog Fox is a resource about music from both perspectives: listening and playing.

The first idea I want to express is about playing music. I am a guitarist, and I know that a lot of people learn to play guitar mechanically – just learning tabs and how to finger songs that are already written by someone else.

This is fun! But there is another way to play guitar that is also fun – playing straight out of your head. Here I want you to know that it’s a very approachable thing. Why? Because even if you can’t yet play complex melodies this way, you can still enjoy your playing. Enjoyment – the most important part of playing music.

To express this idea I will publish a series of articles. You can follow my X.com account, so that you don’t miss them.

On the listening side I will be sharing my personal notes and recommendations. Usually I listen to about 1–2 albums per week, so don’t expect a deep review of all recent releases. However, you might still be interested in following if you don’t have time to read long review articles from other resources.

The first objective of this project:

  • Publish a series of articles with the basic minimum for any guitarist to start improvising and enjoying it.

Everything else is a side quest :)
